Last Saturday we had a family weeding day. We needed all 10 of our hands to make a dent in the enormous amount of weeds we have growing. Scott got to the far part of the garden and as he was pulling weeds he hollered, ‘hey did you know we have a whole row of iris’ over here?’ And so we do! Gardening as a family goes at a slow pace, but we all ended up in such a happy, exhausted mood at the end of the day.

The wee one and I made a lunchtime salad with our mustard, arugula, lettuce and calendula petals.

The apple trees are in bloom and I have to get the coddling moth traps out before it’s too late!

Our baby chicks have grown into chickens so fast! We’ve put them in with the rooster and existing hens and so far everything seems to be going rather peacefully.

We are getting more chicks soon. This will be our first time to add new ones. Any tips on putting the new ones in with the other hens would be great.

    Hi,
i am new to your blog; i just made a batch of your bees wax lotion. It was very easy to make..waiting impatiently for it to get to room temperature to add the EO’s. I used the olive oil and almond oils, i hope i measured the bees wax correctly..i will be taking some to my niece’s house tonight; her husband is having some real skin issues. Hoping it helps relieve the pain.
i was wondering if you can help..do you have a body wash recipe? I have tried one that just calls for melting a bar of yardley soap and add water but it separates. i was wondering if i adding the emulsifying wax would it help bind it a little ???
btw, i purchased the booklet today also !! can’t wait to try the recipes
thank you for all your hard work in making our lives easier !!

I love your blog!!! Here’s a suggestion for you try planting lavender plants under your apple tree. The codling moth doesn’t like the smell!
    It’s worked for me!
