Growing a New Variety – a Daughter

May 19, 2010 by asonomagarden 16 Comments

February Girl for My September Baby
Would you like to know the real reason I needed a blog break? I was going through my first trimester of pregnancy! Luckily as far as my pregnancies have gone this first trimester was the easiest so far. We are safely (knock on wood) planted firm into week 22 and I feel safe to announce it here on this space and to report that all ultrasound pictures show this to be a girl. We have two boys, ages 5 and 3, so this came as an extra delight. I guess you could say that we tend to grow our babies along with the growing season, the boys were born in August and October and this little girl is due in September. It’s a fun thing to look forward to as we progress into the dog days of summer.

During the wait I’ve taken up with lots of baby knitting. If you happen to be a Ravelry member, you can find me here.

    Congratulations Scott and Kendra!
What wonderful news, and I will go check out your ravelry site. I am not a knitter (I crochet) but totally love seeing baby clothes that are hand knit. Do you read Alicia Paulson’s blog Posie gets Cosy? She is sewing/knitting.crocheting for a baby girl they hoep to adopt soon. Very inspiring, She is a ravelry member too. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/AliciaPaulson

Glad to hear you are feeling well and still gardening!

Hi Claire – I have been following Alicia’s blog for quite some time. When she first started showing her dresses and sweaters I didn’t know what I was having but I REALLY wanted to have a girl after all of that inspiration. Needless to say I can’t wait to try out some of the patterns she tried!

First, congratulations! Second, all i can say is wow about that sweater. I have made precisely two simple scarves, and I can’t fathom how one can knit something like that sweater! It is so cute!

Congratulations! A little girl is so much fun! And the sweater is lovely (I’m a knitter too). I’ve been enjoying your blog for some time now. Have a good friend in Sonoma and each time we visit one of the things I enjoy most is the beauty of the gardens and yards here. I garden in a rather different place, Tucson, AZ, and blog about it at the address above, if you’d like to visit my garden πŸ˜‰

YAY! One more on Team Girl.
My daughter is an avid Revelry fan. Her Granny taught her to knit and she took it from there.
    Again congratulations.

Oh, how lovely (and that is a terrific sweater — 5 hour or February baby?).

I remember what a surprise my one son was. I had to ask the ultrasound tech over and over if she were sure. Congratulations!

Oh congratulations! New babies are so incredible. I was just saying how I hope my boys have babies some day so I can snuggle them and love on them as I don’t think I will ever tire of the baby phase. Beautiful sweater too πŸ™‚
